Alan Flower + Sandy Eldridge - Blue Heart
|
"Inspired casting throughout the two plays meant that the large ensemble delivered excellent and perceptive performances. Director Kate Gaul has done a fantastic job with Blue Heart, proving not only her versatility but her originality and eye for detail..."

Heart's Desire: a couple await the visit home of their daughter Susie. The scenario is enacted over and over again. Beneath the comedy lies a play about that other waiting: Beckettian anticipation. By the finish, it is not Susy who is running late but something far grimmer - death.
Blue Kettle: a haunting series of sketches and the gradual invasion in characters' ordinary conversation by the words "blue" and "kettle" and, later, syllables. "Tbkkkl?" asks one character. The reply: "B. K" Churchill - like life- goes her own unpredictable way, daring an audience to follow if it wants the theatre to live.
